2009
9 October 2009 – VEGA Consulting Services Ltd (VEGA), a
Finmeccanica company, is sponsoring Intellect’s Identity and
Information Conference 2009, and highlighting the need for the UK
to adopt a standard approach to information
sharing.
The conference, on 28 October, will focus on
how a greater understanding of information
sharing, security and identity management can enhance public
services for the benefit of both those working across government
and those who rely upon it.

where security and resilience are key. We offer independent expert

transformation challenges with confidence. The company has a wealth
of experience advising government on how best to ensure the

Steve Coles, a leading strategist in this
area of information security, will be contributing to the
conference programme on behalf of VEGA. He will be speaking about
the UK’s requirement for a National
Information Sharing Strategy and its role in supporting the
vision of transformational government. As a member of Intellect’s
Security and Resilience Group management committee, Steve
represents the trade association on RISC, where he is the industry
Chair of the RISC ICT IAG.
“The UK Government’s Transformation Agenda
highlights the need to transform the business of government,
through moving to a culture of shared services, and
professionalising government's planning, delivery, management,
skills and governance of IT-enabled change,“ explains Steve.
“As part of the information sharing session,
I will be considering the need for the UK to adopt its own National Information Sharing Strategy, and
examining how such an approach, already adopted by some of the UK’s
closest allies, can help resolve the challenges associated with the
increased demand to securely share
information across a range of government departments and
extended stakeholders.”
Other conference speakers include David
Blunkett MP; Christopher Graham, Information Commissioner; Eleanor
Laing MP, Conservative Shadow Minister for Justice; Prof David
Rhind CBE, Chair, Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information; and
ACC Steve Mortimore, Programme Director, NPIA Citizen Focus and
Neighbourhood Policing Programme.
