VEGA qualifies as FATS3 supplier

20 April 2009 – VEGA Consulting Services Ltd (VEGA), a Finmeccanica company, has qualified to be a supplier under the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) new Framework Agreement for Technical Support (FATS3). This represents VEGA’s third successive FATS qualification.

FATS3 (as with its predecessors, FATS1 and FATS2) provides MOD clients and other Government departments with a faster and easier method of procuring specialist capabilities from suppliers. Under FATS3, these suppliers provide technical services including technical studies, project support and engineering support.

FATS3 ensures clients benefit from pre-agreed terms and conditions, rates, and discounts. It replaces the need for individual tasks to be advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union and the Defence Contracts Bulletin.

FATS3, which runs for a two-year period, began on 1 April 2009 and has a possible one-year extension. VEGA is registered under FATS3 to provide support services under the following 16 Areas of Capability:

  • Battlespace Information
  • Business Processes
  • Communications and CIS-related Technologies
  • Computing Technologies and Mathematical Techniques
  • Defence Analysis
  • Electronic, Electrical & Electromechanical Devices
  • Human Sciences
  • Information and Signal Processing Technology
  • Installations and Facilities
  • Integrated Platforms
  • Integrated Systems Technology
  • Manufacturing Processes / Design Tools / Techniques
  • Mechanical, Thermal & Fluid-Related Technologies and devices
  • Personnel Protection Measures
  • Project Management and Acquisition Support functions
  • Simulators, Trainers and Synthetic Environments

In addition to VEGA’s FATS3 qualification, VEGA continues to provide support to the UK MOD as an accredited supplier under the consultancy categories of the Information & Communications Services (ICS) Catalogue. It is also an accredited supplier through Buying Solutions, the national procurement partner for the UK public services. VEGA is qualified in the categories for ICT Consultancy Services and Functional Consultancy Services.

VEGA Business Development Director, Steve Coles, said: “Requalifying for the third successive MOD Framework Agreement, and in so many FATS3 categories, is a great achievement. It emphasises VEGA’s continued commitment to providing the MOD and all Government departments with value-for-money and expert services to support the UK public sector’s drive for cost efficiency.”
